Dance mask
Dance mask with surrealist features: in the village of Fokamezo, for example, there was a man who used this mask to ward off nighttime misfortunes and thunderclaps. He would dance the “Kou’gang” with this mask in his right hand from start to finish, without switching hands.
Feminine mask illustrated by a spider
Feminine mask illustrated by a spider: this symbolizes the arduous work of women in carrying the heavy responsibilities of society, of which she is the nurturing provider, from life to death, represented by the living face (1) and the dead face (2).

Anthropo-zoomorphic
Anthropo-zoomorphic, it features the beak of a bird of prey. It belongs to the “Touka” series, symbolizing the action of microorganisms on the human body after death. From a historical perspective, it is a mask of protest. It was used to express dissatisfaction with an act committed either by a community or an individual. This mask would be placed in front of a person’s home if it concerned an individual, or in a village if it concerned a community.
